Redhouse
The quaint village of Redhouse is situated on the bank of the Swartkops River, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa. A birdwatcher's paradise with more than 94 species of magnificent birds, including thousands of flamingos.
On offer are hiking trails, rowing, canoeing, sailing, lawn bowls, tennis, squash, excellent fishing - including catches of the well-known Tiger or Grunter, Cob, Leervis and numerous other species - and many other options to choose from. Charter cruises, both on the river and to sea are available. Adjacent to a declared wetland nature reserve, we have wide open spaces, and views to the sea, just four Kilometres away. Beautiful scenery, tranquil and peaceful. Fresh country air. Ideal holiday venue for activity - or total relaxation. Only 10 to 15 minutes' drive from the city centre of Port Elizabeth, and in close proximity to the Addo Elephant Park - the only park within all Africa to offer the 'Big Seven' - and Shamwari & Phumba Game Reserves. There are mountain bikes and canoes for hire.
Midway between Port Elizabeth & Uitenhage & Coega, we are well-situated for anyone touring the environs of Port Elizabeth, or doing business in the Nelson Mandela Metropole. An increasingly popular tourism area, Port Elizabeth also boasts our newly-completed soccer stadium, and will be one of the host cities to the 2010 Soccer World Cup matches. Port Elizabeth is the largest city in the Eastern Cape (one of South Africa's nine Provinces), and has long been known as the 'Friendly City'. Wonderful white sand ‘Blue Flag’ beaches, safe for bathing, malaria-free, and great weather all year round! Home to the Apple Express narrow-gauge steam train and the Lady Slipper Mountain, Port Elizabeth is also a veritable shoppers’ paradise with its plentiful shopping malls, a beachfront casino and entertainment centre, top hotels such as the recently opened 5 star Radisson Blu, and is home to more than a million people. It is clean and welcoming.
This is a beautiful part of the world that any visitor to South Africa should not miss seeing. So do please come and visit us y'all!
