Interested in Game? Golden Gate National park is where you need to be hosting such animals such as black wildebeest, eland, blesbok, oribi, Burchell’s zebra and of course the countries national springbok! Bird lovers do not feel left out as the park is home to the rare bearded vulture and the bald ibis!
The park is situated within the Maluti Mountains in the Northern Free State. The park is renowned for its beauty and its name was given due o the park’s sandstone cliffs. Ribbokkop, the highest point in the park, towards the evening it hosts a beautiful spectacle of reds blues and purples when the mountains start to shadow.
It is a must for hikers and there are many paths that take you through the peaceful mountains there. There are also many other activities there such as tennis, bowls, horse riding, swimming in a lovely mountain pool and visits to the Bushman paintings.
The parks accommodation includes hotels, self catering chalets and rondavels (mud hut chalets) the park is about 360km south of Johannesburg.
