The Beautiful Garden Route
The Beautiful Garden Route

I am fortunate enough growing up and being a Tour Operator and a Tour Guide in the most beautiful area in the world. The Garden Route.
Stretching along the Southern Cape Coast between Heidelberg in the West, Tsitsikamma Forest in the East, the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains in the North and the Indian Ocean in the South. The Garden Route or also known as Eden is a jewel and a must see, the name says it all a real Nature Lovers paradise.
The Garden Route is in an area dominated by a Mediterranean climate, majestic mountains, breathtaking views, natural garden, valleys, River Gorges, lakes, miles of white sandy beaches, rivers, waterfalls, Indigenous forests, plenty of Wildlife and Marine Life. The Garden Route is a paradise for adventure seekers and nature lovers, an eco-destination like few others in the world with a thousand things to do and explore.
The Garden Route is perfectly located between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth with an infrastructure that can compete with any around the world. There is National Airports in Plettenberg Bay and in George that offers flights from all over South Africa. This is no wonder the teams of Japan, Denmark and France made the Garden Route Their base during the Soccer World Cup.
The Garden Route is an area for all ages, shapes and sizes. If you are a Nature Lover there is the garden Route National Park starting with the famous Wilderness National Park in the West, Knysna Lakes area in the centre and a variety of Mountain Catchment, indigenous forest and Natural Fynbos areas in the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma Mountains in the North and the Tsitsikamma National Park at the East. There is lot’s of Hiking Trails along the rugged coast Line, through the evergreen Indigenous Forrest, and Fynbos covered Mountains. Explore National Parks with over 300 Species of birds or you can go on a Safari Drive to see the Big Five or an Ocean Safari to see the spectacular Marine life with thousands of Cape Fur Seals, 3 Species of Dolphin and 3 Whale Species including the Endangered Southern Right Whale.
For the Adventure Junkies there is just too much to mention. Bungee Jumping from the highest Bungee bridge in the World, Tree Top Canopy Tour Zip Lining from Tree to tree in an indigenous forest or over a River Gorge with stunning waterfalls, 10 00 feet sky dive, Big Game Fishing, Shark Cage Diving, Abseiling, Surfing, Scuba Diving, Sand boarding, Horse Riding, canoeing, kloofing and Paragliding, just to mention a few.
For the Sport Lovers you get Mountain Biking, Trail Running, Tennis, Bowls, rugby, soccer, Polo and more than 12 world class golf courses. The Garden Route also play host to International Sporting events like the World Rugby 7’s Series, South African Open Golf and they hosted the Presidents Cup Golf in 2003.
The Garden Route is a safe destination for tourists with plenty of doctors, hospitals and policing. Plenty of Accommodation is available ranging from camping, Backpacking, 3 to 5 star Guest Houses and B&B’s and 3 to 5 Star Resorts, Game Lodges and Hotels. Tours, Car Rental and flights are easily accessible and available. This is just a few reasons why the Garden Route is a must for each and every person visiting South Africa.
