Peregrine Tours
Peregrine Tours offers customized and scheduled departure tours throughout Southern Africa and specialist itineraries for families, groups, conservationists and corporations.
We are extremely proud to be associated with the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) and are able to offer the unique WWF Discover Tour Program. We also offer photographic, walking and birding safaris as well as day tours in and around Johannesburg and the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. Our group tours and special interest itineraries are designed to visit many fantastic destinations. Tours can be led in English or Spanish. Camping, accommodated and luxury lodge tours are available to suit client needs.
Vision
The name of our company – Peregrine Tours – is inspired by the Peregrine Falcon (Falco Peregrinus) a unique and highly adapted bird of prey which undertakes long migrations and is to be found worldwide in all locations except the polar regions. Incidentally, the word Peregrination means to travel, journey or wander.
Our vision is to promote responsible and sustainable tourism and, through our interaction with others, to positively influence the preservation of wildlife, cultures and natural areas. We fully subscribe to the notion that we are merely custodians of our planet for future generations.
Our objectives closely mirror those of the WWF and their slogan - For A Living Planet. Recognizing this, have agreed to partner with us culminating in our participation in their Discover Tour Program offering exciting and educational tours that include visits to their various projects. The first of these is scheduled for January 2007 when our 10 day Maputaland safari will visit various WWF and other community projects including the:
• Maputaland Coastal Forest Reserve
• Black Rhino Range Expansion Project
• Management and Conservation of African Wild Dogs in KwaZulu-Natal
• Leopard collaring in Phinda
• Isibindi Africa Kosi Bay Community Vegetable Garden
• Maputaland Sea Turtle Conservation and Monitoring
• Ilala Weavers and other community projects.
Highlights will include:
• Turtle tracking
• Big 5 game viewing
• Whale watching in season
• Snorkelling and diving at Kosi Bay mouth and Thonga Beach Lodge
• Kosi Bay and Lake Sibaya
• Game Reserves, conservation projects and wildlife
